68 new coronavirus cases reported

68 new coronavirus cases have been reported by the health authorities on Wednesday following 2,497 swab tests. The number of active cases now stands at 536.

An elderly woman died of coronavirus on Wednesday morning, bringing the death toll up to 41 since the outbreak of the pandemic in Malta.

The health ministry announced that 53 have made a recovery.

According to the infographic shared on Facebook by the health ministry, the cases reported on Wednesday are still being investigated.

On Tuesday, 47 cases were reported by the health authorities of which 32 have been traced. 15 cases have not been accounted for.

The cases which have been traced are 12 cases of patients who are family members of previously known cases, eight patients are work colleagues of patients who tested positive, while the remaining twelve cases which have been traced are connected to a cluster of social gatherings where other patients had already tested positive for the virus.
