Nearly half of the PN members eligible to vote in the party leadership election taking place on 3 October have already cast their vote in the first two days of early voting.
In a statement, the party’s electoral commission said that 48% of eligible voters have cast their vote so far. 32% voted on Saturday, while another 16% had done so when voting opened on the previous day.
A total of 21,499 paid-up members are eligible to vote in the election, which pits embattled leader Adrian Delia against challenger Bernard Grech.
The electoral commission has recently denied a request by deputy leader Robert Arrigo, who proposed that the election should be postponed in light of the pandemic. The commission believed that the precautions taken were sufficient: five days of early voting – votes may also be cast between 30 September and 2 October – are among them.
