A total of 38 new cases of Covid-19 have been reported in the latest daily bulletin issued by the health authorities.
However, the number of active cases nevertheless decreased to 666, as 52 patients have been found to be free of Covid-19 overnight.
As in recent days, the health authorities highlighted that today’s cases are still being investigated. But they confirmed that the 55 cases reported yesterday include 9 family members, 5 direct contacts and 8 work colleagues of previously-known active cases. Another 2 cases were imported, while 6 were described as contacts from unspecified social gatherings.
2,048 swab tests were carried out over 24 hours, bringing the total number of swab tests carried out in Malta up to 177,518.
Malta has recorded 1,705 total cases of Covid-19 since the start of the pandemic. 1,029 patients have since recovered, but the pandemic has claimed 10 lives, with the most recent death reported last week.
