After 11 days at sea, 353 migrants that were saved by Sea Watch 4 will be taken to Palermo in Sicily.

This was confirmed on Twitter by the humanitarian NGO Sea Watch. It was said that the 353 migrants will be in quarantine after being transferred to another vessel outside the harbour.

During the last few days the UNHCR and the IOM, International Organisation for Migration, appealed for a solution to be found for the 353 migrants stranded at sea.

Amnesty EU welcomed the news that the migrants will be offered a safe port although criticised the fact that it should not have taken long for EU countries to decide which country is to will welcome the migrants.
