300 new jobs were announced in the aviation industry following the conclusion of an agreement between the Government of Malta and SR Technics.
Prime Minister Joseph Muscat announced the new jobs in a statement saying that it involves an investment of more than €35 million. Muscat said that the agreement reached showed that the aviation industry could be taken to the next level.
Commenting on the agreement, Muscat described the process as lengthy and complicated requiring a year to be concluded. Furthermore he stated that the Government will continue to invest in education and training in the sector.
The Prime Minister said that the Safi Aviation Park continued to attract new projects that offer a full service in the industry. The services on offer include aviation painting, aircraft chartering and helicopter repairs.
He described the sector as being an important one for the economy therefore requiring attention and a good economic environment.
In a statement, the company said that their new hangar is expected to be finished by November 2019. SR Technics started operating in Malta in March 2010 and employ some 260 employees.
