A total of 276 thefts were reported in Gozo during 2019. This came out in statistics tabled in Parliament by Internal Affairs Minister Byron Camilleri following a series of Parliamentary questions by MP Chris Said.
The statistic highlights an increase in criminality reported in Gozo between 2018 and 2019. Back in 2018, there were a total of 233 cases of theft reported to the police in Gozo.
With regards to drug use, a total of 57 people were caught making use of various drugs in Gozo in 2019. In 2018 the figure was that of 39 people. Looking at fights started in Gozo, the statistics also register an increase between reports made in 2018 and those made in 2019. While in 2018 there were a total of 57 reports on fights, in 2019 this figure went up to 66. A total of 10 people were caught smoking in public places in Gozo in 2019.
