The Ministry for Health has announced that in collaboration with Richmond Foundation have launched the helpline 1770 which will operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The aim of this helpline is to assist people who suffer from mental health issues and are finding hard to cope during this period due to the coronavirus developments.
Over 30 professionals will be available to offer this support through the helpline and if necessary they can advice the person calling to seek further psychological assistance if needs be.
In a statement, Deputy Prime Minister Chris Fearne said that in such circumstances even people who never suffered from mental health issues may feel depressed and have anxiety and it is for this reason that this helpline has been launched. Minister Fearne has also appealed to people who are challenged with mental health issues to take care of their mental sanity and should not be afraid or ashamed to seek assistance.
