Twenty three dogs were rounded up and impounded in Ħamrun by Animal Welfare officials on Friday morning. Reports were filed about the bad conditions in which the animals were being kept in a residence.

A spokesperson for the Ministry of the Environment told Newsbook.com.mt that the Animal Welfare inspected the residence to see how the animals were being kept after it received reports about the case. He explained that the dogs have been confiscated and taken to animal welfare. He added that then a police complaint will be issued.

It has been reported that the dogs which were kept in cages, were without any food or water. It is highly likely that the owner was breeding the dogs illegally.
