21 individuals fined for public gatherings

21 individuals were fined €100 each during the continuous patrols carried out by the Police and Environmental Health Officers are doing to ensure that no groups of more than four persons gathered in public places between Friday and Saturday.

This was published in the government’s daily coronavirus bulletin.

The health authorities have reiterated their appeal to the general public to adhere the directives and restrictions implemented in a bid to curb the spread of the virus.

On Saturday, 14 new cases were detected overnight after 1,727 swab tests were carried out. Nine individuals were asymptomatic – meaning that they exhibited no symptoms associated with coronavirus. The authorities said that these were identified as a result of their strategy to increase screening so that those without symptoms are immediately identified and isolated.

There are 90 active cases, of which 14 patients are receiving treatment at hospital.
