Is coconut oil dangerous to your health?

Harvard University professor Dr Karin Michels has claimed that coconut oil is the worst kind of oil to consume because of the damage it does to the fatty acids in the body.

Last year, the American Heart Association updated its guidelines on the fatty acids found in coconut oil, advising people not to consume saturated fats such as coconut oil as this reduces the risk of developing cardiovascular problems later in life.

Apart from coconut oil, other types of foodstuff that contain a substantial amount of saturated oils are butter, hard cheese and meat pies.

On the other hand, food containing a substantial amount of non-saturated oils includes fish, nuts, seeds, vegetable oil and avocado.
