Partit Laburista announced that a total of 17,500 people will be eligible to vote in Saturday’s election for a new party leader and thus, a new Prime Minister.
Those who cannot vote on Saturday can start voting as from tomorrow.
These details were given in the party’s General Conference held in the Labour Headquarters in Ħamrun this evening, during which there was an explanation of the whole process of electing a new party leader.
Dean Hili, the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, explained that the process adopted by the Commission was a transparent one, which will lead to fruition on Sunday when Partit Laburista will have a new leader. He said that every step taken in the process was agreed upon with the candidates’ agents.
There was a vote of thanks given to Prime Minister Joseph Muscat during the conference, for his leadership for the past 11 years.
Daniel Micallef, the President of Partit Laburista, ended the conference by appealing to those present for the party to remain united on Sunday.
