Malta has registered 173 new coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours, the health authorities reported on Wednesday. A man and a woman became the latest victims, with the health authorities reporting the deaths the day before.
2,133 cases remain active after 135 made a recovery.
The pandemic has claimed 103 lives to date.
The cases reported on Wednesday are still under investigation, while the health authorities have traced 54 infections from the 110 cases reported on the previous day.
These cases have been traced to:
- 32 family members of individuals who have tested positive
- 14 work colleagues of known positive cases
- 6 direct contacts of positive cases
- 2 cases were from a social gathering
56 remain unaccounted for.
