16,000 tons of illegal waste removed in 2018

Minister Owen Bonnici said that more than 16,000 tons of illegally dumped waste was removed by the Cleansing and Maintenance Division in 2018.

During a visit to the area known as Tal-Papa in Birżebbuġa, Minister for Local Government Owen Bonnici, said that in that area alone, more than 128 tons of waste were collected.  

Parliamentary Secretary for Public Cleansing Deo Debattista spoke about the need for more cleanliness, since our economy is largely dependent on tourism.

By the end of March this year the Cleansing and Maintenance Division collected over 4,500 tons of illegal waste. The General Director of the Cleansing and Maintenance Division Ramon Deguara explained that the Division is committed to continue this work in more locations. Deguara emphasized that this work must be in parallel with enforcement.
