16% of the PN party members have already voted as on Friday which was the first day of the early voting for the new Nationalist Party leader. This was announced by the PN’s Electoral Commission in a statement published on Saturday.
Sources informed this newsroom that the highest turnouts until yesterday were registered in Gozo, Ta Xbiex, Swieqi, Rabat and Zejtun.
Incumbent leader Adrian Delia and lawyer Bernard Grech were the only candidates to express interest in the Partit Nazzjonalista leadership race.
The early voting will continue today till 6pm, then voting will reopen on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. At the close of voting, the counting process begins.
A total of 21,499 paid-up members of the Nationalist Party have been deemed eligible to vote in the party’s leadership election.
Members are reminded that in order to speed up the voting process they are encouraged to take with them the voting letter sent to them and must also have with them either their identity card or driving license.
The temperature of each person will be taken upon entry, and a face-mask is mandatory. Voters can take their own pencil or pen to mark the ballot paper.
