158 new coronavirus cases; 1,702 active cases

Malta has registered 158 new coronavirus cases on Tuesday following 2,602 swab tests by the health authorities.

74 individuals have made a recovery, thus the number of active cases is at 1,702.

To date, the pandemic has claimed 226 lives. The latest victims aged between 71 and 96 were announced earlier on Tuesday.

From the 148 infections reported on the previous day, the health authorities have traced 64 cases as follows:

  • 30 family members of individuals who have tested positive;
  • 8 work colleagues of individuals who have tested positive;
  • 16 direct contacts of individuals who have tested positive;
  • 10 individuals have been traced to a social gathering.

84 remain unaccounted for.
