153 new Covid-19 cases; Over 2,000 active cases

Malta has registered 153 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours following 3,296 swab tests, the health authorities announced on Tuesday.

The number of active cases stands at 2,041 after 89 made a recovery.

The cases reported on Tuesday are still under investigation. The health authorities have traced the following cases from the 102 infections reported the day before:

  • 15 family members of positive cases
  • 2 work colleagues of positive cases
  • 6 direct contacts of positive cases
  • 2 cases from social gatherings
  • 4 cases imported

73 cases remain unaccounted for.

On Monday, three more lives were claimed, as three elderly men aged between 75 and 87 died of coronavirus.
