15 new Covid-19 cases reported

The health authorities have reported 15 new cases of Covid-19, with the latest figures published reflecting the situation at midnight.

Just one patient has made a recovery, bringing the total number of active cases up to 185.

The health authorities said that four cases were related to the ongoing Santa Venera feast cluster, whereas another 2 are related to a newly-reported cluster in Paceville. Two other cases have been imported, while the remaining cases are all sporadic. Contract tracing efforts are ongoing.

They announced that “most of today’s new cases did not go to work when symptomatic.”

A total of 1,418 swab tests were carried out, bringing the total number carried out in Malta up to 130,165.

So far, 860 cases of Covid-19 have been reported in Malta, with 666 patients making a recovery. The pandemic has, however, claimed 9 lives in Malta.
