141 new cases of Covid-19

141 new cases of Covid-19 have been reported by the health authorities on Wednesday afternoon.

With 97 patients since making a recovery, the total number of active cases now stands at 2,081.

The new cases were identified through 3,014 swab tests: so far, 370,559 such tests have been carried out in Malta since the beginning of the pandemic.

There have been 7,537 known cases of Covid-19 in Malta to date, with 5,371 total recoveries reported. However, the pandemic has claimed 85 lives, with the health authorities announcing four new deaths on Tuesday evening.

The cases reported on Wednesday are still under investigation while from the 153 cases reported on Tuesday, 21 have been traced as follows:

  • 10 family members of positive cases
  • 6 work colleagues of positive cases
  • 5 cases from social gatherings

132 infections reported on Tuesday remain unaccounted for.
