Tista' taqra bil- Malti.
The 110 asylum-seekers who were stranded in Maltese waters have disembarked in Lampedusa yesterday morning.
This was announced by humanitarian NGO Alarm Phone, who also condemned Malta’s lack of intervention, “putting their lives in danger for several hours.”
Earlier, on Twitter, the same NGO said that the migrants are on an overcrowded and precarious wooden boat with one broken engine. It also insisted that the Armed Forces of Malta are not picking up the phone while the Italian coast guard was denying responsibility.
In the meanwhile, NGO Médecins Sans Frontières announced that hree women and a child are among 13 people reported to have drowned in the central Mediterranean yesterday.
“Is the EU watching?” It called for the authorities to either step-up with search and rescue capacity, or let them save lives.
