108 new coronavirus cases recorded

Malta has recorded 108 new coronavirus cases on Saturday, twelve more than the previous day.

The health authorities have also announced 121 recoveries bringing the number of active cases to 2,059.

To date, the pandemic has claimed 132 lives.

The new infections were recorded following 2,870 swab tests.

59 infections of the 96 cases reported on Friday remain unaccounted for, while the rest have been traced as follows:

  • 32 family members of individuals who have tested positive;
  • 2 work colleagues of individuals who have tested positive;
  • 3 from a social gathering
