1,000 trees and shrubs planted at Majjistral Park

Around a thousand indigenous trees and shrubs are being planted at Majjistral Nature Park.

In a statement issued by the Government, it was outlined that the planting is part of ongoing works by Ambjent Malta to improve the natural environment. The trees are from local stock: olive trees, carob trees and the national Maltese tree, known as tal-għargħar. These are indigenous and compatible with the climate of Malta.

An irrigation system has been installed with them, so that they can be watered as needed. The project will also be rehabilitating an area of 8,000m² of green land.

Present at the afforestation initiative was Minister for Environment Aaron Farrugia and representatives from the Turkish Ministry, Turkish Embassy, and Ambjent Malta.
